What Sets Us Apart

The Gonstead Method of Chiropractic

  1. Visualization

The analysis begins with a visual inspection of the patient's posture and gait. Dr. Rhamy observes for any signs of asymmetry, misalignment, or abnormal movement patterns that may indicate underlying spinal issues.

  2. Instrumentation

The nervoscope is designed to detect variations in skin temperature along the spine, which can indicate abnormalities in nerve function or spinal alignment. It consists of two probes that are gently applied to the skin along the length of the spine, allowing the chiropractor to measure and compare temperature differences between corresponding points on each side of the spine. By detecting areas of abnormal temperature variation, the nervoscope helps identify potential nerve disturbances that may require chiropractic intervention.

  3. Static Palpation

Static palpation involves assessing the spine while the patient is in a stationary position. Dr. Rhamy carefully feels for areas of tenderness, swelling, or misalignment along the spine, identifying potential subluxations that need to be addressed.

  4. Motion Palpation

Motion palpation involves assessing the mobility and range of motion of individual spinal segments. Dr. Rhamy uses his hands to gently mobilize each vertebra, feeling for restrictions or abnormalities in movement. This hands-on approach helps identify areas of spinal dysfunction that may require adjustment.

  5. X-Ray Analysis

X-rays are often utilized in the Gonstead System to obtain detailed images of the spine's structure and alignment. Dr. Rhamy analyzes these X-rays with precision, carefully measuring vertebral angles, disc spaces, and other indicators of spinal health. X-ray analysis helps identify specific areas of subluxation and guides the development of a customized treatment plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is chiropractic care?

  • Finding subluxations

  • Restoring nerve function through adjustments

  • Allowing the body to heal itself

What is a subluxation?

A spinal misalignment that puts pressure on the nerves and prevents them from functioning at their fullest capacity.

  • Our nerves, which branch from our spinal cord, control every cell, tissue, organ, muscle and system in our body.

  • If spinal segments are impinging the ability of our nervous system to send signals then it can present itself in symptoms like pain, reduced range of motion, improper functioning of systems, and more.

What is that “popping” sound?

Known as a cavitation : the noise is the releasing of gas bubbles from the segments of the spine being adjusted due to a change in pressure.

  • This noise is not necessary for a proper adjustment.

  • You will not always hear a “pop” or “crack”.

How many visits to get better?

Though many people experience near instant relief after an adjustment, it’s important to remember that your body’s current state is the result of years of misalignment. Issues will not be resolved in just a few visits and it’s important to be regimented and consistent with your care. Your healing experience is not one-size-fits-all and will be dependent on many factors including:

  • Severity of condition

  • Level of improvement you want

  • Consistency of care

  • Frequency of visits

  • Lifestyle and lifestyle changes & other factors

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes, it is safe. The Gonstead Technique is specific and gentle, and requires little to no twisting. Like any form of healthcare intervention, there are both benefits and potential risks associated with chiropractic. As with anything, you may feel mild soreness or tenderness in the area during the adjustment due to inflammation. Soreness does not equate to damage.

Analogy : If you haven’t been to the gym in a while and you complete an intense workout it’s normal to feel sore the next few days. As you become more consistent in your exercise routine, the post-soreness becomes less intense and less frequent. The same goes for chiropractic care; consistency is key!
